My Computer Science Superheros

Margaret Hamilton

"The rope mother"

Birth:August 17, 1936 (age 86)
major academics events: American computer scientist who was one of the first computer software programmers; she formed the term software engineer to define her work. She assisted write the calculating code for the command and lunar modules used on the Apollo missions to the Moon in the old 1960s and early 70s
contrbutions to computor science:Without Margaret Hamilton we wouldn't have what we call a "software engineer" today. One of the many contributors to this effort was Margaret Hamilton, a computer scientist who led the Software Engineering Division of the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory, which in 1961 contracted with NASA to develop the Apollo program's guidance system.

Katherine Johnson

"the computer human"

Birth: August 26, 1918
Death: February 24, 2020

major academics events:She calculated out the courses for the spaceship to orbit (circle) Earth and to land on the Moon. NASA used Katherine's arithmetic, and it worked! NASA shipped astronauts into orbit around Earth. Later, her math helped transmit astronauts to the Moon and back.
contrbutions to computor science: her aeronautics work at NASA, where she developed calculations that helped the US launch its first astronaut into space in 1961 and safely land Apollo 11 on the moon in 1969, among other pioneering crewed space missions. Without Katherine Johnson we would've never did that that mission to the moon. who knows how long more it would've taken us.

Hedy Lamarr

"the mother of Wi-Fi"

Birth:November 9, 1914
Death:January 19, 2000

major academics events:Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian-American actress and also a inventor. she is responsible for what we call Wi-Fi, GPS, and bluetooth today.she was aleady on the map prior to this 1993 for her role in the sexually charged Czech film Ecstasy
contrbutions to computor science: as previously stated she is the main reason we have what we call today Wi-Fi, gps, and bluetooth, Her life was remarkable."frequency hopping was a wayof switching through radio signals to not be jammed. Hedy lammar was the first to do this in 1941 with the help of George Antheil, it was called "secret communincations".
